Spring Is Here!

Looking around there are many obvious signs of Spring.  Robins, wood ticks (ick), perennials popping up, longer days, etc.  I have a beautiful flowering plant that has just exploded in the last few days.  They don't stay flowering too long so you have to take your pictures as soon as it is in full bloom.  Also, something that I really look forward to is rhubarb becoming available, so many wonderful sauces, desserts, breads, etc can be made with this versatile plant.  I hope to make freezer jam again, something I haven't done in probably 15 years.  The kids always loved it and now hopefully I can get The Captain to love it too!  I have added some signs of Spring to share today.

Is it a Cold or is it Allergies?

When you have a runny nose, watery eyes and sneeze three times in a row this time of year is it a cold or is it allergies? And you might know Craig and I were planning an evening watching Eleanor tomorrow night and now we will have to cancel since we aren't sure which it is. Am I contagious or not? That is the question. Or course, when you are planning to be in close contact with a 10 day infant you probably should err on the side of caution and wait until next week. Dang! I so wanted to spend a little time with our granddaughter. But, we will plan to reschedule to next week sometime. Hopefully by then the cold or allergies will be gone.

Pontoon Season

Last August we purchased a cottage with my brother and his wife. It is a cute little place on the lake, with a dock, but unfortunately no boat, so...... we just couldn't imagine a summer on the lake without a boat. We tried the 5 o'clock cocktail cruise in our canoe, but it just didn't seem right that we had to put the cocktail down to paddle. We are pretty excited to be back on a lake and look forward to a long, hot summer and the company of family and friends .

It's Official, We're Grandparents!

Tuesday, April 7th our oldest son Jamison, and his lovely wife Kim, brought a new life into this world. She is Eleanor Catherine and the most beautiful baby ever. We are delighted to be grandparents and are thrilled that we are retired and able to be available whenever her parents might need us. We are so looking forward to spending lots of time watching her grow to be a lovely woman.

Snowbirds......

We have made it to our long-awaited dream of retiring and going south for the winter. As we watch "the weather channel" cringing for our family and friends back in MN/WI we are very thankful that we are here in sunny AZ.

We are spending time with my parents, visiting friends (from WI) wintering in Parker, AZ and looking forward to our children visiting next week. We are settling into our "winter life" in LHC by improving our home, "jeeping" in the desert, planning a visit to the local hospital to see about volunteering and whatever else happens to pop up for us to do.

We miss our family and friends but know winter will end all too soon and we will back in beautiful WI planning our spring and summer and, of course, enjoying our new grandbaby!

Love to you all and have a wonderful winter wherever you are.
